Beamer checklist

🔌 Connect & Activate Display

  • Windows: Win + P → select Duplicate or Extend
  • Fedora / Linux (GNOME):
    • Open Settings → Displays
    • Or use keyboard shortcut (often): Fn + F8 / F7 (device-dependent)

⚡ Before You Start (Always Test!)

  • Font size & readability
    • Check from the back of the room
    • Avoid overcrowded slides
  • Latency / responsiveness
    • Move mouse, switch slides
    • Watch for lag (especially with HDMI)

🔄 If There Is Lag

  • Try a different connection:
    • Prefer USB-C → HDMI / DisplayPort
    • Avoid problematic HDMI ports if possible
  • Check display settings:
    • Ensure 60 Hz refresh rate
    • Reduce resolution if needed
  • Restart the system if issues persist (can reset display detection and drivers)

🧑‍🔧 Preparation

  • Bring contact details of the local tech/support team
  • Arrive early to test setup with available equipment

🎒 Always Bring

  • USB-C → HDMI adapter
  • HDMI cable
  • (Optional) USB-C → DisplayPort adapter
  • Charger (some adapters drain battery faster)

  • We can borrow a replacement laptop (Windows) at the reception
  • The phone numbers (attached to the speakers table) should work, otherwise, go to the reception to get help
