Resources
We maintain a reproducible workstation configuration based on Ansible.
Workstation stack
- Base (Minimal Fedora, debloated GNOME)
- Dev (Visual Studio Code, Git + LFS, Python, Docker, SSH)
- Research (Quarto, LaTeX, Pandoc tooling, Obsidian)
- Documents (Okular, OCR, GROBID, Recoll)
- Sync & Backup (Nextcloud, Vorta/Borg)
- Productivity & Media (Thunderbird, Chrome, GIMP, Audacity, OBS Studio)
- Security (KeePassXC, ClamAV)
Eduroam
On Fedora with GNOME, open Settings → Wi-Fi, select eduroam, and use the following settings:

For FS employees, the username is name@fs.de, where name is the Windows login (without @fs.de). This is not necessarily the employee’s email address.
Fedora may show a warning when selecting No CA certificate required; confirm this choice. After entering your credentials, click Connect. Fedora/NetworkManager normally stores the connection profile, so you only need to enter these settings once.
