Software

The main lab-stack playbook installs and configures most documented software through focused Ansible roles. Use the individual pages to run a role by tag, understand what it manages, complete any manual account or GUI setup, and verify the result. Start with Install software when configuring the complete workstation rather than running every role separately.

Area Software and configuration pages
Base system and development Baseline, Git tools, Nemo file manager, VS Code
Storage, backup, and security Borg/Vorta, Dropbox, VeraCrypt, KeePassXC
Communication and productivity Chrome, Thunderbird, Thunderbird MCP, Teams, ONLYOFFICE, Okular
Research, writing, and data analysis LanguageTool, LaTeX, Quarto, R, RStudio Desktop, Obsidian
Containers and virtualization Docker, VirtualBox
AI and document processing services OCRmyPDF, GROBID, LLM

The pages distinguish shared Ansible-managed state from manual steps such as signing in, supplying credentials, choosing personal settings, or creating data stores. The LLM page describes an explicitly manual area that is not currently part of the main playbook.
