Nextcloud
Nextcloud synchronizes documents, PDFs, media, and shared project folders. The default local location is ~/Nextcloud, though selected folders may differ by workstation.
The native Nextcloud and Dropbox desktop clients are recommended for workstations because they react to filesystem changes and provide visible sync status and interactive conflict handling.
rclone may be suitable when synchronization is explicitly scripted or scheduled, when working with multiple servers or remote storage providers, or when reproducible command-line automation matters more than desktop integration. It is an alternative for those workflows, not a replacement for the Nextcloud desktop client.
Synchronization is not a backup: deletions and conflicts can propagate between clients. Keep important local data in the separate HDD/Borg backup as well.
