HDD/Borg

An external HDD with Vorta/Borg provides versioned, encrypted backups of local workstation data. It complements GitHub and Nextcloud: synchronization and remote Git hosting do not replace an independently recoverable backup.

Keep the drive disconnected except while backing up, checking, or restoring data. Configure or reconnect its repository, sources, retention policy, and schedule through Borg/Vorta, then follow the recurring backup routine.
