Copier

Install Copier and the template extension loader in the target user’s isolated uv tool environment. The extension is required by templates that declare copier_template_extensions.TemplateExtensionLoader in copier.yml. The normal make configure workflow installs Copier automatically.

ansible-playbook -i inventory -K playbooks/lab-stack.yml --tags baseline,copier

copier --version
uv tool list --show-with

The tool list should include both copier and copier-template-extensions.

Using Copier

Create a project from a template with:

copier copy TEMPLATE_URL DESTINATION

For a template that requires trusted hooks, run:

copier copy --trust TEMPLATE_URL DESTINATION

Only trust templates whose code you trust. The --trust option allows Copier to run template hooks; it does not install Python dependencies. This role installs the extension loader alongside Copier.
