New machine

Provision a workstation in the following order. The supported starting point is Fedora Workstation 44 x86_64.

1. Install OS/Ansible. Install Fedora, apply the first system update, install the bootstrap tools, clone this repository, and verify its local Ansible inventory. Installing the operating system and completing any account or machine-specific choices are manual steps.
2. Install software. Run the main Ansible playbook to apply the repository’s managed packages and configuration. Ansible performs most shared setup; the page identifies the account sign-ins, credentials, GUI preferences, and other user-specific configuration that must remain manual.
3. Set up or restore data. Reconnect Git repositories and synchronized storage, then restore trusted local data, profiles, and keys only where needed. Restoration sources, credentials, and recovery decisions are intentionally not automated.

Complete each page’s checks before continuing to the next step. After provisioning, use the day-to-day operations workflow to keep the workstation current and recoverable.
